how to rewire correct fan ?

Alrighty, had a play with the engine fan and the plug looks to be completely cooked, so wether that is the issue or not im unsure as im getting my mates multimeter today, however tested the engine fan on the battery and it spun like mad!

So im wondering should i cut into the wiring that is there now and re-route it to the engine fan which is the easy option or should I strip it all back and go from the start.

just trim the heat affected wire & plug and add new wiring from engine fan to where the wiring now ends. Use new connectors and a proper crimping tool not the cheap kits like these.

fwiw: I had a 16" fan melt an inline fuse holder - the fuse was either not sitting correctly in the holder or simply gave up way too slowly and got hot before failing. Make sure the wiring for the fan is rated to suit continuous high current draw and the connectors are decent items.

hey chuckster, i dont think the engine fan is connected at all, however ill set the wolf to run the fan while the motor is off and see if it gets a signal.
However if its not getting a signal to the fan at all, which i feel its not cause they didnt wire that in, and the ac cond fan is the only fan that sets to run, would it be wise to cut into the ac cond. wiring and wire straight upto fan ? or not

1 - was assuming that they'd wired up the a/c fan to the wolf (based on previous comments)? now would be a good time to check that the wolf is actually controlling a fan

2 - if not, configure the wolf to run a fan, fit relay, wire up engine fan, done.

Ok, atm the wolf controls ONLY the AC condenser fan, not the engine fan. I will test the engine fan is getting a signal through the burnt out connection if so then happy days a busted connection.

If its running only the AC cond fan. Can i cut the connection to the AC Cond. and route the power to only the engine fan? I assume if its just a power signal to the fan then that would be a reasonable option.

yes, tho rather than assuming anything, just check that there's a relay between the ECU and fan. If they've done 1 retarded thing wiring up the car, odds are there are more retarded things.
