    Default 3SGE Beams questions...

I have a great interest in these motors from a conversion perspective.

What I want to know is, do they use the same loom between manual and auto? Most of the ones I have seen for sale are definatly auto derived from the pics supplied and do not come with ECU. I can't work out why this is, the ECU sits in the engine bay right next to the motor, wouldn't it take longer to try and unplug it then just remove it attatched to the loom? Frontcuts are scarce and seem overpriced. (Manual ones)

    Cheers Brad.

this for a black top beams i presume?

i know plenty use the auto ecu's in manual cars for the FWD grey/retop versions without hassle. don't know about manual ecu with an auto tranny tho, most likely not.

the manual BT motor is more exp, has slight differences in the head.

why they don't come with ecu's in anyones guess, either sold seperately, or they were too lazy or it got damaged.

Are the actual differences in the engine? I know there's a lower rev limit for the auto and that will be ecu governed of course, but did they actually do different valvetrains between versions to suit the different rev limits?

the auto black top has the same "spec" head as the redtops but with dual vvti

the manual version has .5mm larger Ti inlet valves as well as larger dia buckets but apparently same duration/lift cams. the BT has a higher CR than the redtop, not sure auto have the same CR as manuals?

For the blacktop version yes, in RWD.

It seems wierd that they are sold without ECU, sort of makes the engine 'package' useless, at least without spending big dollars getting it to actually run.

I am toying with the idea of putting one in an RT81 Corona, but it is going to be a lot of work....

    Cheers Brad.
