    Smile JZX90 1jz A340E Wiring

    Hello from The United States!

I just wanted to say before I begin, I love AUS. It's like all the good things of Japan, but everyone speaks english! Yeah!

I joined this forum because I am tired of all the dumb people I have to get info from in the USA.

People literally Google a subject, read a few lines no matter how skewed in some random post from 2006, take it as fact, and shove it down everyone's throat.

Anyways it's great to be on a Smart forum, you guys are the best!

    /Rant.

Here is my current project. JZX90 Chaser 1jz in a Sc300.

There are a lot more Chaser 1jz's then there are Soarer 1jz's and because of this, I would like to help complete a fairly undocumented part of this swap.

The A340 Trans wiring is different from the Soarer to the Chaser.

ECU side JZX90 Chaser Harness Grey Plug wire colors:
    -Red/Black
    -Red/Blue
    -Yellow/Black
    -Yellow/Red
    -Yellow/Blue
    -Yellow
    -Green
    -Green/White
    -Green/yellow
    -White
    -White/Blue

    White plug is A340 Plug?
    -Green/White = "P"
    -Green/Yellow = "D"
    -Green = "2"
    -Yellow/Green = "L"
    -Green/Red
    -Yellow/Blue
    -Yellow/Red
    -Yellow
    -Black/White
    -Black
    -Red/Black
    -Red/White

Pattern Select switch Wire colors are:
    Red/Black
    Red/Blue
    Yellow/Green =L
    Green/Red
    Green/White =P
    Green/Yellow =D
    Green =2
    Black/White
    Black

    Speed Sensor Wire colors are:

    Yellow
    Black/White
    Red/Black

    S1,S2,S3 Solenoids Wire colors are:
    Red
    Red/Blue
    Yellow/Black

Hopefully I can get some assistance in how to wire these plugs that usually jump into the Body harness, by cutting the plugs off and wiring it like a Soarer.

    Thanks again Guys!

    JZX90 Chaser Harness help please?

If this was a Soarer Harness, there would be no problem.

I'm having trouble where the harness jumps into the body, then back into the ECU.

Does the Chaser Harness just need the Speed signal, and Gear selector wired where the missing plug is?

I.E. Does it have the Shift solenoids already integrated in the harness? Or do I have to hook up IJ1 to the Big Left plug on the ecu?

    Thanks again!

I got a lot of info but the one thing I cannot find is the pinout of the White and Grey "IH1" and IH2" connectors that run to the dash.

I don't want to assume anything, but I'm pretty sure the wire colors changed between JZZ30 and JZX90.

    Anyone wanna share?

Ok first of all do not follow any of the guides they will mislead you. Assume nothing and forget those guides.
Find out what wires are what yourself using a multimeter, ECU Pinouts HERE :

    http://img322.imageshack.us/img322/3503/jzz309gp.jpg
    http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/me...out2-45961.unk

Just use multimeter on continuity or resistance check and prick the wire at the ECU Plug and begin pricking the other plug on your ECU Loom
to find out which wire it is.... label them and once you done it you know what to do. Get yourself a set of Insulated terminal crimpers and add terminals
to all your wires so then you can plug and play.

working with what you have and also am assuming jzx90 ecu works 100% the same way as jzz30 ECU.
Now did the jzx90 1jz come with the a340e?

Things like Solenoids you should not have to worry about as they run directly from the box to your ECU,
    which controls them directly.

You need to give the ECU the following Auto trans related signals for it to do it's job properly to control the auto Box :

"P" - For Power mode, these are the ECT/PWR Buttons to switch shift points for power or econ mode. when the terminal "P" on the ECU gets
+12v, it will go into this mode. So find the wire on your body plugs of your SC300 that get +12v when you hit the PWR Button, that is the
wire you connect to the "P" wire on your Chaser harness.

"L" - For ECU to know when your in L on the shifter, connect to wire on sc300 body plug that has power when L is selected....
"S" - For ECU to know when your in 2 on the shifter, connect to wire that on sc300 body plug that has power when 2 is selected

"OD2" - for ECU to know when you select/unselect overdrive, this wire gets grounded when you turn overdrive off, wire to appropriate wire on sc300 loom.
"STP" - Stop switch signal, this needs +12v when you press the brake.

Now the 3 wire sensor coming off your trans.

Yellow needs +12v on Ignition should be able to find
a Yellow wire from the Chaser body plugs that goes to it.
The other 2 wires should be the same colour on your Chaser body plugs
and next to each over or close by.

If speedo works then you know you wired it in good.
That is all you need Auto trans related as far as functional purposes go.

Gear position switch on the trans needs incoming power to it so it can give that power
to whatever wire for P R N D L (For your dash to light up and for signal to ECU as discussed earlier)
I'm pretty sure this incoming power to it is provided with the same yellow wire as the one for the
3 wire speed sensor discussed earlier in my post, I think I can even see a Yellow wire on your gear switch
    is.

So basically what you need to do is confirm which wire on your gear select switch is the one that gives incoming power
(Pretty sure it's yellow), so now you check continuity from this yellow at the switch and upto the dash plugs you begin
pricking and if it happens to be the same yellow wire that is from the speed sensor, well once you power your speed sensor,
your select switch is powered too. Now basically the select switch gets incoming power to it (That we just provided),
and what it does as you go from P R N D L, it gives that power out to a certain wire that goes back up into the plugs
and to light up the dash letters but more importantly for your ECU signals as discussed earlier. If pattern select switch
is not recieving power, then you will not get outgoing power depending on each gear you select P R N D L, that means
your ECU wont get signal for L and 2.

Now you will have wires on your dash plugs that recieve power (Back from the switch) depending on what is chosen P R N D L,
and you can now wire these in so your dash displays what gear your in (not needed but more for convenience). For this
it's hard to know which wires on your chaser body plugs lead to the dash PRNDL so you can begin sending +12v through random
wires but I don't reccomend that, only way is to use wiring diagram but wait there is a way :

What you do is you use your original SC300 engine loom, and on the workbench you send power to the gear select switch on the yellow wire (if thats the one as we discussed)
Now you shift gears on the box and you see what colour wires on your SC300 engine loom get power..... and now since those plugs plug into your SC300 body that way you know
which wires they will be on your body plugs..... so your basically using your old SC300 Engine as a template to work out where the wires on your body loom will be because those
    plugs originally plug in...............

That is all you need for auto trans.

EDIT - Looking again looks like you might not have that Yellow wire i said about the pattern select switch, it might be Red/Black, but either way make sure it's getting power on the wire that it needs power on i was always under impression it was yellow......

Simply love the detailed question and more so it being complimented with a rather detailed answer.

However, I would like to ask that if the pattern switch, speedo and OD pin are left unwired at the ECU would it cause shift problems? especially downshift random problems?

I'm currently facing such problem and just realized that these pins are left out. However, since my gear position is on "D" I don't think these wires will make any difference if plugged as they are not of relevance. Also the P and OD pins as I understand are left default if wires unplugged. So what could be causing the shift issues. I'm assuming its the STP pin???

do u have both old and new harnesses
just make one out of two
cut the body plugs off your old loom and join
    them to your new loom
    not hard just time consuming

No I don't have both harnesses.

I did install a R154 do get over the wiring issue!

Still in for other members to figure out.
