why not just trace it out accurately onto a piece of cardboard or whatever, or measure it up accurately, and then get a flange lasercut???
should be easy.
Guys, who makes one? or is there a 20V manifold that bolts into the engine if the engine didnt have quads? or is there some sort for of manifold between the head/quads?
i need the flange from one suggestions? or should i take a 20V head to a machinist and say "make me a flange to fit this bananahead!"
Cheers
Rohan

yes easy but i thought that sorta procedure would end up with me paying out the ass? i can draw up a CAD design of the flange i want made for the machinist if he wants
Would the cost of a custom manifold and carb linkages etc be cheaper than just going to a megasquirt or similar?
i have no intention to use carbies i just need a flange to fit the 20V, long story, ill get quotes on some custom cut ones and go from there
The is a small manifold (about 3" long) between the head and the throttle bodies.

DCOE mounting is rather close to 20V quad-manifold mounting, but you don't want to go there, 'cos the manifold is a cast, bulky lump of poo. And a new DCOE manifold would be so much tastier looking... That is if it ever sees use![]()
Nikita the RA23 is almost finished.
Rohan,
I maybe able to get a dual sidedraught manifold that suits. It is listed as:
4A-GE Large Twin Port (TV15) Toyota Twin Cam Engine 89KW 1600
Does this match the model 4A-G you have?

Rodger, that would be for a 16v motor.

OK, WELL
i have started a project on a TA22 and wnated to keep it all Tseries, so engine i ended up being a 3T, but for my stupidity wanted to either go forced induction on carbie or something interesting injected, well i ave my 3T/2TG hybrind in the works but didnt want 2 big fat carbys hanging off it. and a set of 20V quads came into my hands for a steal, what ben wilson has told me has got me very excited as i need one of them, to make a manifold about 2 or 3 inches long that has a 3T flange and 20V flange to adapt the quads to the 2TG head,
i have made some chop and re weld manifolds (including some extractors) before but this time i wanted to make a whole manifold, i want to get some flanges so i can get them cut in alloy, it seemed easyer for me to get a flange then have them copy it from the quads or from a CAD design,
its pretty much the only bit that is still iffy on my TA, the rest is all worked out
a 3T-G wuth 20V quad was much cheaper than going injectionperfection of jenvry throttles and will be more than enough for what im using the engine for,
this weekend im stripping down the throttles and cleaning them up
also i plan on running individual air filters (for sex value) should i be looking at a longer adaptor to make up for the lack of trumpets? ro should i just keep the origional quad throttle rubber trumperts and box and put a nice pod filter on?
You can attach 20v quads to a side draft manifold with adapter plates like this:
That might be easier than building a complete manifold. I made them up out of 5mm aluminium (notice the roll pin dowels for location).
Bear in mind that you will still need to work out some sort of injector boss setup for them.
As for trumpets, I wound up going a little overboard:
They did the job nicely, the car won the NSW state P2 rally championship the next year
The only bit that sucks is about 3 months after I finished the manifold, T3 released a manifold that does the job....
Ben i would reather just make a nice manifold looks tidyer and buffed up alloy is purd,
also that way i can keep origiona fual rails and stuff, fuel rail setup isnt hard but more work in one area is better than lots of little jobs, i just realised what the 3 inch manifold you were talking about was, i might look at using that flange as a starting point
i think ihave sorted the problem, i haddnt looked closly at the quads i have and ijust reaised i have the manifold i need, before now all i did is peek in the box as this weekend i was going to tear them down
also i would rather lose a touch of perfomance and keep air filters as its not a full blooded race car just a weekends/sprints/hill climbs and other fun events
Ben will you be at the Bega round in a few weeks alot of NSW rally cars are comming? would be nice to go have a look at your car
