Hi,

No wukker sunshine. Now do me a favour and check out the the "Should river change his avatar thread" and put in your poll result. It would make an old man very happy. I may need to revise my current avatar choice.

And, I'll be interested to see how the rubber softening results go. Hey, maybe you can put it in the technical section, with your "tyre inflation" thread!!!!! Exciting, isn't it?

you could put a few coats of black enamel paint on the squeaking areas. this should take up the squeak and last a fair while. just use a little fine brush!

there is a place in SA that sells all manner of rubbers...not to mention seals for automobiles

I think by memory it is called fitch the rubber man.
However they get a lot of their stuff from Scotts Old Rubber
i assume your outer weather strip has a little metal face to it, with a rubber 'blade' that comes out of it that contacts the window.
This type of strip can be purchased in metre lengths. (i wrote the price down once but can't find it)
If you have a reasonably straight door frame unlike the annoying kink in the ra40, then you should be able to adapt it to fit on your car.
i warn you that it isn't cheap but if you went to rare spares and toyota, you should be used to high prices (it is cheaper than both of them however).

another option is rare spares were willing to make the outer weather strip for my car if i suppllied samples. It was going to cost in excess of 70 dollars a side to do however, but it would fit nicely and they would have a pattern to make many more for any other people wanting ra40 strips (all 3 of them) on the road.

this thread is a bit dead now, found it while sarching for something else, anywho, the bloke at scotts reckoned that parifin (sp) is the go for the old rubbers, the ones that go over the door glass in TA22's and MS75 crowns. ( same shape ). with the RA23/28 they changed the type of rubber the seal was made of, but he reckoned parifin will fix your ills, what ever they might be.
