plug gaps - but i though that was at high boost (spark blown out)?
OT but related: life expectancy of tyres on Phil's new car? 26 days?
if i belt the car from a standstill it'll go to 6500rpm where it naturally shifts, but when it hits 4500rpm it starts to break down.
havent tried 4500rpm in 3rd yet
is this a common problem, plugs maybe, coils maybe

have you blown any fuses? may sound like a silly question, but you mighn't be getting full power...
beer me!
plugs more than likey, then check coils. the thing can be a faulty trigger pickup then wiring, make sure nothing has got hot extra or wires are not chaffing on a sharp edge somewere.hahaha that should give you ten minutes work for all that checked the fault codes? lol if you have the stock computer that is.
Question? have you got a boost gauge in this of some type?
Also check all the vac lines for your turbo's, when i first got mine one of the t-pices had melded causing the waste gates not to open at all, so it was hitting fuel cut all the time.
MX83 Grande
DirtyWan Skyline GX
how do i get the codes out of it, yes factory computer, i will check vac lines, i have a HKS FCD thats cranked all the way up, will it still hit boost cut somewhere, 20 maybe??

There should be a diagnostic connector on the engine itself. Short TE1 and E1 in that and the engine light (if hooked up correctly) should flash out the codes.
There is an additional diagnostic connector up above the driver's feet however that may not have the pin for TE1 in it. (And it may not have been hooked up in the conversion).

sounds like the FCD isn't doing its job properly. Boost cut is quite a violent break down, more so than a miss at those rpms because of plugs/coils etc. I have no idea about that FCD but do what shane said and report back to usBoost cut is 14.7psi stock and on stock turbos I would leave it at around 14psi max unless you like living on the wild side

to me it sounds like its running very lean in that rev range or somethings not douing its job, i would try the setting on 9 first, if that doesnt do something, pull the thing off to eliminate its not faulty.
like chris said boost/fuel cut is a big hit not a series of popping and farting.
