i did plenty instructor laps with different people last time, although they did kick finney out of the passenger seat on one run.... depends on their mood during the day i guess???
ps: my +1 (Aaron) will be at his first track day (ever), so anyone who can give him a few laps + advice on the track would be much appreciated (and if anyone has a spare helmet...?)
He'll be having some track time in the Supra, but hopefully he can learn the layout/rules before cutting sick on the track (I'm going to suggest he follow someone who's doing 1:20s.... anyone?)
Also Garth, chances of me being able to give him some instructor laps, or is that permanently for special friends of the organiser(/incentive for me to get a L3 CAMS licence... or the new equivalent since they changed the rules)?

exactly... I spent half the day doing instructor laps, then suddenly I couldn't?
i will be bringing my spare helmet down in any case...
I daresay I'm around the 1:20ish. Hopefully a little quicker this time due to stiffer rear sway bar & (hopefully) warmer weather meaning I might actually get heat in the rear tyres...
What's he driving though? Cause it might be something that can go a lot quicker down the straight (I get to about 140ish), but not through the rest.
Fark, I got a mate coming all the way from Parkes for laps in the passenger seat.....
Current ride/s:

1999 Subaru WRX
Garth,
is it looking at the same as normal for numbers?
I'm looking at maybe doing some extended runs (my car can do this without breaking) to see if I can work out some fuel economy figures at "flat stick". It'd be nice to know for re-fueling for when (if) I ever go rallying.
But I don't want to be taking away track time for those with more serious cars.
With the passengers, we're normally fine with them for driver training purposes, but obviously we're being allowed something they often won't let people do so we need to be sensible with it and understand they may get a little nervous with people appearing to be mucking around with their mates. Last year we had a couple of incidents that triggered track officials to pull the pin on passengers and so the few days since then we've been not pushing the issue and controlling who is going as or taking a passenger. That being said most people haven't had an issue taking someone out and we always start with it allowed and see how we go. We are a little at the mercy of a personality or two down there so we need to be mindful of that - i don't know anywhere else or any other groups being allowed the freedom we have there.
Worst comes to worst, i'm always going to be signed on as an instructor and am always happy to take people or ride along, particularly if it is actually to help people learn.
With regards to numbers, we/re at 35/36 so usual sort of full day for us - as always there will be hours of half empty track in the afternoon i'm guessing. We always say, in the morning, do your 6 laps then come in, in the arvo once it's quietened down if there's no one waiting go as long as you like.
Yep, can hire helmets down there, always good if you've got one to bring it though.
And remember everybody, we're starting and finishing 30 mins earlier! So 8am briefing.
