    Default 4age no spark?

hey guys, just finished puttin together my 4age. everything is wire up but got no spark. coil and ignitor are good. but still no spark. my wiring was done by Phrostbyte (RIP KEV) and i dont know if it is all shweet. also i dont know how to check power to ecu as i have no engine check light. could it be that my ignitor is not getting signal from the ecu?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

pull out the multimeter and check the power pin of the ECU.
then check the power pin of the ignitor.
you can easily make a check engine light by connecting it to certain pins of the ECU.

you can check the continuity of the signal wire between the ignitor and the ECU and then go from there..

    got diagrams?

ok thanks for the replys guys, i dont have a multimeter so i dont think i can really do that, can i just use a test light? yes i have 2 earths comming off the block. ecu is a 86kw bigport ecu and the harness was stock jus had the plugs changed and things peeled off that werent needed.

anything else i could check without a multimeter?

Just go buy a multimeter, you can get cheap ones from tricky dickies for $10, and it will do you for everything you need.

How did u check for spark?

I assume that you've taken the lead off with a spark plug in it and bridged and earthed it?

multimeters saved my life. with wiring up mine
i had a hard time getting my 4a to start but thanks to the boys here on the forum its alive

found out i wasn't getting the starter signal to my ecu.... through a fualty connector
therefore it wouldn't start sparking when i was cranking

would have not known with out that lil multimeter

I doubt your not getting a signal from the ecu. i'd say u have a bad connection somewhere.

Check all your earth points, including your ecu earths

dont put an earth from the negative side of the coil to ground. that will stop spark.

the only wire to the negative side of coil should be coming from the igniter. (and one if you have a tacho connected).

when you say it has no spark.... are you saying that the engine cranks over? bu no spark while cranking?

it could even be as simple as a low battery, since a lot of power is taken y the starter during cranking....

try and charge the battery before you go further...

if you had a multimeter, you could tell if it was low or not

and why 3hrs after all that time?
