Hilux 3RZ 2.7 - Auto to Manual Conversion HELP?

Hey guys.. Been lurking the forums for a while, but this is my first post!

I had a search for some info on this, but couldn't find anything.

I want to change my 1998 2wd 3rz hilux from Auto to Manual 5spd.

Has anyone on here done this? If so i'd love to hear what i'm in for, work wise, money wise etc.

Also a list of what i need, parts wise would help me alot!
And i have no idea what i am supposed to do with the ECU. As i have read that the auto and manual ECU's are not interchangable.

I'm only young and don't have a heap of knowledge with this kind of thing, but will be getting help from my old man on the conversion. It's just up to me to get all the parts ready!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would buy a crashed one and use it for parts,and learn what goes where pulling out the bits you need , then sell all the leftovers
other wise you will spend ages chasing " that little horse shoe shaped clip that holds the ****** on " at the wreckers

Yeah thanks mate! I thought of that and actually got onto a guy, who said i can pull everything i need off a complete car.. Crashed one obviously.
For a pretty good price also i think...

All i need to know now is, what am i supposed to do about this ECU issue?
I'm stuck and it's the only thing holding me back from doing the conversion.. HELP PLEASE!

try the ecu off the crashed one ?
i can see how an ecu gets involved in an auto , it would be good to run a test and see if not having one with the manual box is an issue ( i assume its more for emissions /input info than actual drivabilty )
first step is find out what it does
