jesus that's dedication
Hi All,
I have recently pulled the clock out of my MX13, which stopped working around 10 years ago. The oscillating electromagnetic circuit which drives the mechanism is completely cactus.
My question is has anyone substituted this drive circuit, or is familiar with a part from a newer car that would be compatible? I'm not real keen on trying to replace it with another 30 year old item.
Cheers

Don't know if this would be of any use to you? Should be the same process really...

Why not just get one of those $15 clock movement kits from Jaycar. You could retrofit it behind your existing bezel and use the existing hands somehow. Usually driven off a 1.5V AA battery, i'm sure you could make a small circuit to regulate this from your 12V supply. Cheap & a bit of fun!
Kind Regards,
Kurt.

Thanks for the replies everyone, unfortunately the clock differs for the above link (As you can see in the images i've added). However I might be able to use the motor from the other type and retrofit it, or as JetspeedCamry says go the whole hog from Jaycar.

Just find a taco from a early 70's Datsun 6 (Cedric Skyline etc)..... Most models came with a factory taco unlke the toyotas and are very close if not spot on for the size.
My early GX10 has the square type dash, and with the mx13 having round ones your best bet may be a 240K skyline....... piece of piss to fix and will look factory

I just managed to snatch a 240z tacho off eBay. Looks like it's gonna do the job, fingers crossed for when it turns up.

Nice one, that looks like it.
I've got the measurements, but they are a little approximate. I'll have to pull it out of the casing anyway, so I guess it's going to be a bit of suck it and see. The diameter and style seem pretty good at least.
