    Default ms55 brake upgrade

my ms55 is having persistent brake problems, she failed roadworthiness test
the handbrake locks only the rhs wheel, and the front rhs wheel jams frequently. so before deciding to sell it, i am habing a last chance with a brake upgrade.
from what other car can i get a complete brake set up? i even consider from another make altogether(mercedes w123 series came to mind since they have the same pcd)
    thanks

Just find an MS112 going cheap and swap the 4 wheel disc set up straight over.

The entire rear diff assy with disc brakes bolts in with minimal fuss. From memory the bolts through the suspension bushings are slightly bigger and diff flange may be different. The front stub axle assy should fit straight in without mods. May need to use MS112 ball joints. Lastly, remove any brake proportioning valve from the MS55 and fit the one from the MS112.

The hardest part with MS55 is boosting the brakes. But the above system will work ok but will require a bit of pedal pressure input from your right leg.

    Cheers,
    Shane.

Thanks, but the problem here is that the crown stopped being imported after the MS55, thats why i asked for something from a different model(eg hilux-many are still around) and even different make

There will not be a quick fix then. Putting brakes on it from something entirely different is a big task. You may need to concider overhauling the original brakes. The handbrakes issue is probably due to the handbrake lever in the brake drum being seized and therefore not working. The front may have bearing grease on the linings or a wheel cylinder issue.

It would be a lot easier to get the original stuff all working properly.

After the work you have put into this car, would be an awful shame to sell it on this basis.

As above, it sounds very much like you need to clean everything up and find a physical cause, and adjust everything properly. Make sure your nicely resleeved cylinders don't have any grit in them, and blow out your lines.

Much easier to sort out your original system rather than complicate things unnecessarily with something incompatible.
