so hang on, let me get the facts straight.

the diff is the same, the rear section of the tailshaft is the same, both were fine before the conversion.

the front section of the tailshaft is new, and has new uni joints.

so, everything was working fine before, and you changed the front section of the tailshaft and the gearbox...?

then why would it be diff? as its the same setup as before...

and why would it be tailshaft, because its all in good condition...?

Maybe your tailshaft isnt aligned/configured/placed correctly, or you fuggered something during the conversion that you didnt notice...?

p.s. yes, all of this just occurred to me. bite me

lol well i said that earlier duh. Anyway yes i did not notice this backlash before, but then again i was not able to shock load it like i can now before. Also i would have thought the diff would be in reasonable condiion as the car is just about to only hit 62000km.

Yes the rear section of the tail sharft and diff hasnt been touched. THe front half has been lengthend with a new uni joint. I really dont thik that the convo has been fubared, i.e in the tailshaft or anything. It is quite hard not to have stuff lined up.

So yeah what would casue it to clunk in every gear due to 'shocking' it, shock loading it. Also is there any rubber in the diff that could be old and worn that woudlcause this.

    take it out
take it to a reputable diff shop
get it lapped and the backlash adjusted.

if it hasnt fixed the noise then ill bend over in a clown outfit and u can ahve your way with me.

and yes, the lapping is just cheap insurance, as if the backlash hasnt been set right its not going to ahve been running on the full face of the teeth, rather just the edge, so you get it lapped to reduce this, reset the backlash and should get lots of happy whine and clunk free kilometres from the diff.
