Default powersteering to light in 2jz- mx83 conversion

hey guys ive had a 2jz-r154 setup in my mx83 cressida for a while and as much as i like having light powersteering its getting unsafe to drive at high speeds with 500+ at the wheels. just want to see how i could slow the flow down or what can be done to fix this problem???

a few people have fitted restrictors in the line with some success. you could also try changing the pulley size to spin the pump itself slower

there was a thread on TC.net about it a while ago, check it out. personally i reckon your best bet would be to adapt a 7m pump to suit, with the stock motor and pump the steering is fucken fantastic... a touch heavy with a small wheel but soo much feel and very direct

what size is the 2j pulley and about roughly how many % less power assistance do you think it needs?

Have you got a speed-sensetive rack in the car? Being a Grande I'd say you would. Are the solenoid wires to the rack intact and connected? If they are, then check that the powersteering control ECU up under the dash near where the stock engine ECU was is still there and connected.

JZ pumps are fine with the speed sensetive racks when they're wired up right

no speed sensitive rack in ADM series 2 mx83

i think it was only the jap x81's etc that were speed sensitive (maybe USDM mx83 as well), the series 1 ADM mx83 had a dampener on the rack though.

    no idea sorry....

a restrictor in the line sounds like the simplest option.

ive got part of the factory 7m restictor in the line and it helped but not much. ill have alook at the rack over the next couple of days and see if it has a solenoid on it or not and go from there i guess. either way it has to be fixed because fishtails get abit scarey once im picking 3rd and gets hard to keep stright lol.

1 and 2j pumps and pulleys are same as far as i know. I would have suggested bigger pulley otherwise. not sure if it'll work but what about using a narrower line as a restrictor?
