3sg buckets for shim-under 1uz + thin head gaskets part numbers? +more

Hi guys. The plan is to get the ported heads assembled with the shim unders and the large cams installed, to a state where they are ready to be put on the engine, theoretically keeping the car off the road for the minimum possible time.

This is something like a shopping list. The guy at kelford just said I need "3rd gen 3sg buckets" which would probably just get me a blank stare at the toyota dealership, I'm also chasing shims to suit, thinnest available head gaskets, some spare helical cam drive gears, a replacement set of all the seals in the heads, a timing belt and probably a whole bunch of other stuff I've forgotten.

Ah I'll probably need some spare cam gears too ( the toothed belt ones ) If anybody has any of these parts lying around or a place where I can get good prices that would be awesome.

? you can't just replace the shim over buckets with shim under buckets , you'll also need the spring retainers to suit the shim under setup.

i'd say it'd be cheaper to go the 1zz shimless buckets as then you don't need to change the retainers.

or are you getting new springs with the correct retainers anyway?

Thanks for that, the cylinder head guy isn't keen on shimless. If I go with the 3sg setup I'm guessing I need 3sg retainers can anyone confirm this?

Yes, if you go shimunder you will need the retainers to suit.

If your upgrading your springs aswell, BC make them to suit gen3 with Ti retainers. Not as exp as youd think either.
