It is a charcoal canister. It captures fuel vapour from the tank which is then burnt by the engine once started as part of it's emission control.
I kinda have the feeling this is gonna come under the stupid question category but. . .
Please refer to attached Photo. What is this canister thing in the lower RHS of the Photo and what does it do (in case name isn't self-explanatory).
I was trying to figure out purpose of all the vacuum / fuel lines and couldn't find this thing either in my Haynes or ToyoDIY.

Thanks Lee; just found that out / finished reading about it and yes, it IS in ToyoDIY for my car under Body > Fuel Tank (was looking under EFI system ).
