umm, what is a 2G?
can you just buy a toyota engine manual off the net (ebay, yahoo, various car publication stores... maybe even toyota themselves)???
Hi Guys, I think I asked before but I had no luck
As 1Gs are rare as you like in the uk, I can't just buy another to replace my one with a spun big end.... so we are rebuilding it... I have finally sourced a place that sells the required bearings, but my engineering shop needs to know the factory bearing internal and external diameres, and oil clearances so they can measure everything up and get working on it!!!
Please has anyone got these specs as I have searched and searched and can't find any, anywhere. I have been pissed about with so many supliers etc and my car has been off teh road for getting on for two years now.. I refuse to miss another summer!!
If anyone can help, it would make my day! (And possibly stop me garotting various suppliers that have let me down lol)
Edit: yes I mean 1G-GTE! out of a late '88 supra (rev. 3 1G-GTE!!) sorry my bad... typos!!!

Cheers guys... Sorry for the typos, I was freshly mad off the phone from the engineers...
Yes its a 1G-GTE... the big end span (also no.6) and totally destroyed the crank big end face... so I need to get the crank fully re machined.... I have sourced 5, 10 and 15 thou under sized bearings for the 1G-GTE but the engineers need to know what teh crank toleranced should be at before I know what size to order!!!
Cheers!!

I'll have a look at my 1GGE manual when I get home. Everything is pretty much the same.

i dont understand why you've had the car off the road for two years...
and now your in a mad rush to get it all done?!
Eldar.O.
Why the long time scale? Because I have been let down by person after person.
I had originally arranged to get a new engine that I was going to drop, in, easy, quick fix; I got the old engine out and waited... I was let down and it never materialised. About three months in waiting I gave up so we had to rebuild the one I have...
I stripped it down an assessed the damage, and took the crank/rods/block the lot to an engineering company to sort it out. Next big hold up, I could not find bearings anywhere (Toyota will only supply factory bearings, not much use on a well scored crank!) They said they could match me up some bearings, no sweat. it sat there for a few months and I started calling them to get things done... they decided that they couldn’t get bearings, so I had to look for them myself, I eventually found a company that does them, and asked them (engineers) what size to order... to which they replied, no idea, no rebuild specs. It has been with the engineers for a year now!!! No one has ever rebuilt one of these in the UK, so there is no literature for them!
Why the mad rush? because I am pissed off that I have not been able to drive my car for so long, it is my summer time/show car and it is summer time and show season, and since my other car got written off last month, I now need a car, so I would like to get mine fixed ASAP, if that is ok with you, EldarO.
The entire thing is a total mess and I am fed up of being messed about by third parties, I just want my car back! (Preferably before the sun goes away)
JustCallMeFrank, cheers mate, another helpful post(unlike some
) It’s odd that Toyota sell undersized bearings for the GE but say they are not suitable for the GTE? (According to my local Toyota parts place) I would have though it was all pretty much the same... Specs would be hugely appreciated.

Sorry dude, my internet isn't working at home atm, so I haven't got it up. Considering there is nothing special about the GTE bottom end to make it turbo specific (no squirters, no forged pistons etc) I can't see any harm in using bearings for the GE...that sounds like another Toyota dealer that doesn't have a clue.
