i think CP can do pistons of any compression ratio you want - for a fee...
Hey
Im rebuilding my ae92 4agze smallport map sensored engine. Does anyone know where or who makes aftermarket forgies with compression ratio 8.9.1? All i can find are 8.5.1 or 8.0.1.

I am just curious why you want aftermarket, do you want something lighter?
Don't use the ACL performance ones they have a very low C/R,
Toyota 4AGE Rebuild Kit (16V and 20V, Turbo and Aspirated)
think they will sell pistons seperate as well![]()
i have to replace my orginal pistons, i just thought going aftermarket forged pistons would be stronger and better than the standard ze pistons.
Are the standard ones forged? They are ceramic coated (well the smallport ones are anyway).
yeh they are ceramic coated but mine are damaged so il get full forged pistons to replace them probably wiseco or cp
i know arias makes forged pistons and will probably do custom ones. I would assume so because on paradise racing they say they can have custom ones made by Arias.
Assumption is the mother of all f**kups...
sounds like your engine was built with a loose piston to bore ratio if it was rattling when cold.... some engine builders like doing "high boost" engines that way.. old habits dying hard i guess.
All stock GZE pistons are forged. The 8.9:1 (AE101 GZE) pistons are also ceramic coated. 8:1 ones are not.
Can be had for $404 delivered with piston rings from lithia toyota in the states. Thats where I got mine from for my new motor..
as above, what's wrong with using genuine pistons? it's not like they can break easily
Long skirts, heavier, worse squish areas.
Cost is usually the factor in using stock pistons, but if you are having to buy some anyway then Wisecos arnt much more expensive.

If you were referring to 8:1 pistons not being ceramic coated, that is not true. All 4agze pistons are ceramic coated to my knowledge. I ordered and installed new oem OS 8:1 pistons for my rebuild 2 years ago, and they were definitely ceramic coated, as were the original ones that I replaced.
Also, the 4agze pistons are definitely forged, and this has been discussed many times over. Toyota seems to use a proprietary method of sorts to make them, but they are forged.
Nothing wrong with the Toyota 4agze piston design. Maybe you can find slightly lighter ones, and with custom compression ratios, but otherwise oem pistons are quite good. You'd only need to redesign the tops if you were changing the cr significantly. If you must have 8:9, get them as trdee suggested, or try sourcing them directly from Japan, as they are still made by Toyota, but Lithia will probably be the easiest by far.
So long and thanks for all the fish!
