have you tried diagnostic scanning the vehicle or getting the check engine light to flash?.. sounds like the leads even well worn leads can miss at random spots in acceleration..
G'day to all, I have just joined since searching this forum for answers and finding that people are helpful.
Here is my problem
I have a 90 Tarago TCR10 with 416,000K's and has run sweet for the past 6 years, the past couple of weeks she has become a little unhappy.
Starts fine, drives through the gears fine but then at light throttle in top gear she loses power like a cylinder is not firing, if I depress the clutch it will free rev easy, also after driving it idles erratic and stalls.
The fuel filter has just been changed, plugs are only 28,000K's old, air filter is clean and new.
Had it to a couple of mechanics who are scratching their heads.
To the best of my knowledge (from years of tinkering with old school cars) plug leads break down underload, not while cruising.
A fuel issue would present during acceleration, not low throttle cruising.
I'm guessing it's a minor sensor/ electrical issue but can't pinpoint it.
Help or advice will be very much appreciated
cheers

I've had similar issues when the o2 sensor needed replacing.

Thanks heaps for your input guys, I appreciate it - really ! I hope I can help others with my contribution soon.
I spoke with a "thinking mechanic" at length today who suggested possibly a fuel issue due to the 02 sensor, I have booked in with him for next Tuesday.
As he explained, the sensor may be faulty and telling the ecu to lean off (stupid electronics) so hopefully we'll be happy campers again soon.
The mechanic is highly recommended and uber busy, his workshop is full of really nice cars like Mustangs etc, so I figure he's got the goods.
I can occupy myself this weekend with sourcing and fitting a new handbrake cable which snapped today - dammit !
Whatever happens I still rekon I've got the best car I've ever owned, 6 years now and this is the first trouble I've had with it and still running strong with 417,000KM on the clock !
I will post a result when the issue is resolved in the hope it may help others.
cheers
