    Default Control arms

Okay for reasons I am not going to go into, I need to find a control arm that is compatible with an ae71 corolla and a ae86 steering arm and shorter, thats right SHORTER, than standard.

I remember seeing a list of different length control arms on a forum somewhere but I'm stuffed if i can find it.
Now I've asked this question on a couple of other forums but noone has been able to give me an actual answer, so Toymods; Can you take the crown as the most knowledgable forum on the interwebs??"

    Cheers
    Mark

Cool, so I just read through the thread and I was getting all excited thinking that Ta22 control arms might be shorter, but on like the 20th page it comes out that they are actually the same length as the xt130 arms i am currently running ie 10mm longer than standard ae86/ke70 arms.

I have, however, heard whispers of st141 control arms being shorter but no measurements were mentioned. I have also been told that apparently there are sigma ares that are shorter than standard ae86 arms however I have doubts as to the authenticity of these claims. (For two reasons, firstly because I know that GH (i think) sigma arms are longer than xt130 arms and give crazy neg camber, though hey maybe this is another type of sigma and secondly because the guy who told me about these arms once also told me that he was getting a 3T with twin superchargers that put out over 500hp for $100 to go in his ke70 )

Sooooooo can anyone measure their st141 arms for me?? pretty please

how hard to make the arm shorter by moving the inner bushes?
if you start with something longer, like the shitma arm, then you have lots of free metal to play with

Well it would be interesting to see but I think that it would not pass the engineer? I know they are funny about welding suspension components I'm not sure about something that just cut down though.

after welding it together just linish it/grind it down and paint them or even better powdercoat... do it all the time and you seriously cannot even tell they have been lengthened or shortened

don't attempt it if your an amature welder... would be best done with a Tig..

That is the thread you are looking for... and I don't see mention of anything shorter than what you already have.

not cut and shut. they are shit for the obvious reasons

weld in a new inner bush tube. same as the stock tube was welded in, just a bit closer to the outside.

it's ok if it is done by someone who knows what they are doing with a welder to ensure there is no if any strength issues... there are PLENTY of examples where ametures try this with life threataning results...

That is the thread you are looking for... and I don't see mention of anything shorter than what you already have.
Now how the hell didn't the search engine find that when I searched for "lower control arm length" or "lca length" ?? Your right the shortest mentioned in there is ae86/ke70 arms but I did notice that st141 arms weren't mentioned so I'm still holding out hope!
If the worst comes to the worst I guess I will make a pair, I'm just a little reluctant to do it cos I would have to pay a welder to do it and even then it would be highly possible that the engineer would pick it up and fail me and at the end of the day the part would only be in the car for like 3 or 4 days while it gets inspected, then it would be straight back to xt130 hahaha.
I think I might have a lead on some 141 arms so as soon as I get them measured I will let you all know!!
Also does anyone reckon anyone will mind if i grab most of the measurements from that thread and put it up on another forum? Maybe in a place it would be easier to find?
