2JZ into mx83 transmission issues

Recently picked up a cressida; had the transmission rebuilt and a shift kit installed, still lat the shop as they dont want to release it till its fixed and wont just burn the tranny

When its in drive, it shifts into second gear pretty much straight off the bat, goes a meter and then shifts, and then is reluctant to downshift through any gears

When its held in 1 it's fine,
move onto 2 it will shift into second and then quicky into third, only going back to 2 when it feels like it seems

Notes on the car are,
traction control removed,
a small resistor on the tps so it doesnt see 100% instead seeing a max of 95% throttle (they think this may be the cause of these issues)
kickdown switch is not connected

Any help asap is greatly appreciated as I need the car for daily use... ugh

doesnt sound like its been wired up properly, either re-wire the whole thing or put 1jz valve body on it with a cable for line pressure and a shift box. Thats what im about to do to mine

Throttle position sensor was cactus, swapped it over and it runs like a dream
