Anyone know what sensor this is?

Hey guys, upgraded my intercooler and found this funny looking round Tube sensor. Any idea what it is and if it's needed?
It looks like a round tube and a sensor inside like an air flow meter. But heaps smaller and made of plastic. It was behind the front bar bolted to the frame of the car. By the way it's an mx83 Cressida with a 1jz conversion

might be some sort of outside air temp sensor for the climate control?

cant see any pic so i am just guessing

It's the outside air temp sensor for the climate control system.

You can remount it anywhere it will get good ambient airflow.
