Ok, tax time etc. Apart from rims, I also need a decent alarm for my build. I want something with GPS tracking that will page my phone if the car is broken into and that I can request the current location.
Remote start, paging FOB, etc are things I can do without.
Oh, it must comply with the regs for insurance etc too.
I have looked at Dynamco and Mongoose so far. Are Viper any good?
I was thinking something along the lines of a Mongoose M80 or a Dynamco P785 and the Mongoose GPS tracking VT404 module looks pretty cool.
Any other suggestions?

I bought an M80G for my project. Only issue is the lack of sensor inputs, however a simple PCB with some diodes will solve that issue. The GPS tracker you linked looks the goods, and I like the sneaky microphone option - wonder if you can have a sneaky speaker which you can talk into - mess with their head?? Oh, and a video camera so you can see their face
I guess the only subscription will be the mobile SIM connection - there are some good cheap pre-paid options for that though.

i used to have a RAM v4 in my XB Sedan.
It was a good piece of kit with mobile phone connectivity. So if it was ever triggered or the battery was running low it would SMS me. Also if you locked your keys in you could SMS it to unlock. Didn't have GPS tracking though.
I just got a $20 prepaid sim for it that the credit lasted a year on (make sure you check that cause some expire sooner.)

Yea, a sim card is cool, I just don't want to pay a monthly fee for some company to monitor the car when I can do it myself.
Vodaphone and companies like that are starting to offer additional sims etc as part of a single plan.
i have P785, looks good enough quality, easy to install, no hiccups so far, nice looking fob.
is branded as a Cyclops
would recommend.

+1 for a M80.

Ive moved my M80 to two different cars now. New replacement $40 M80 looms FTW!

My bro has an M80 in his car that seems pretty good. It's the model before they updated their FOBs.
