ide try crank/cam sensors 1st...
but potentially it might be the crank trigger wheel is wandering around as ive known of a few to come lose... and as described cause random hard to replicate issues...
I have put together a 1.5jz running twin td05's the problem i am having is that one day it will run absolutely sweet as, idles fine, boosts great and generally runs like a dream. Then the next day it wont idle properly, backfires in the intake and exhaust, wont really boost and foot flat just causes it to either backfire or cut out completely.
Im running the setup on a 1jz mines ecu with stock coil packs and stock everything else except turbo's, exhaust and cooler.
Ive had the ecu caps replaced (big thanks to Jared)
Also only running gate pressure which is between 7+9psi.
Ive checked and double checked all earthing points.
Any ideas what could be causing these symptoms? i wss thinking maybe a faulty crank angle sensor??
Cant seem to pull an engine code from the light either which is strange.
Cheers
Matty

Swap or native engine? How do you try to pull the codes and what's the result exactly?
vvti control valve may behave this way, among other reasons.

Engine conversion is when you drive a shitbox which costs a whole LEXUS to own
possibly a dodgey connection to one of the coils?
