1972 Corona(MX10) MK2 advice from owners/enthusiasts
Hi, I recently bought a toyoyota corona MX10 and I've started to work on it. It has quite a few features that are not origional: fuel pump is electronic, Carby is from a Crown and has had its automatic choke removed and replaced with manual one, new air filter and alternator.
The interior has been destroyed from a half ass modification. Seats are very worn, no carpet, dash was "painted" and steering wheel replaced with a fully sick piece of junk.
The exterior was poorly painted one or two bumps and few spots of rust opn the crome along with fairly worn window sealing which leaks a bit.
I'm keen to bring this car back to its formaer glory with maybe a few upgrades along the way.
I'm looking for any advice on engine or interior items that I could find, possibly from another model corona or even toyota? I'm also not that experienced in restoration and any advice/tips/tricks you could offer on obtaining parts or anything you've learned would be very much appreciated.

Hey Mate,
Good to see another Corona ethusiast! I too am currently doing up a Corona, an RT132 that has suffered a "half assed modification". A few pics if your interested Nothing like Corona's | Facebook
I'm on the look out for spare parts, particularly chrome and little interior parts, I will post here if I find a good website/store etc.
For engine info, this website IS THE BEST SOURCE. What sort of donk does your Mk II have in it?

Hey mate cheers for the reply. In terms of **** ups the engine isnt that bad. I mean its an electronic fuel pump and cant remember the make of the air filter but a spongey thing with crome cover. It was just completely disrespected. The owner I doubt changed the oil in a year, the battery had to be replaced the radiator is on its last legs and a miracle it still holds water. Not one thing in the engine bay well maintained. The alternator was replaced and it's pulley was out of alignment with the water pump and crankshaft so it was destroying the belt! Just total lazieness.
SO far I just have been trying to get her regoed(its up in 3 weeks) I replaced the ignition sytem almost totally. New points, rotor, dcap, spark plug, sparkplug leads, ignition coil, new thermostat, fuel filter and radiator cap and did the valve clearances. ALong with restoring the carby. Just the cheap stuff thatll get it running well for rego. Replaced a few hoses and flushed the radiator and gave it a much needed oil change and filter!
What kind of gear box do you have mate? Mines a 5speed manual but if it wasn't to expensive I'd like to find a 5speed at a scrap yard or somewhere. Is yours an Mseries? DO you know much about doing interior like upolstering the seats and moulded carpets and that? The cars yellow.... so the genius painted the dash yellow... peeling paint of course, looks ridiculous.
