Default Potential power rating of a Century GZG50 Gearbox?

Does anybody know if the GZG50 gearbox can handle a bit of hp / torque thrown at it? is it a derivative of the A340 transmission or does it have larger input shafts, clutch packs etc etc so therefore potential is greater than a A340?

    Thanks
    Jaffa

You'd reckon they would be pretty strong given the 2 plus tonne car they move?

Bear in mind there are two boxes - a 4-spd and a 6-spd

Yes that was the rational behind asking the question Justen, hoping someone might of seen or played with one.

Yep ok thanks knew of the later 6-spd ,.. changed to these in 06?

Lets see if anybody can chime in with an ans ,.. would really like to go Auto with the build, just don't want to be putting in and pulling out couple of days / months later.

    Thanks

The biggest issue I can foresee, is that being a luxury car that will have very soft shifts and that will burn out the clutches.

Suggest some valve body mods & oil cooler, and other than that I'd be surprised if you have any issues with it.
Must.... avoid.... urge... to... upgrade... parts I haven't.... used.... yet.....

Ok thanks ,.. have put an offer in on a 6 spd and hopefully it get accepted, i was looking at 06 boxes onwards so 05 gives a slightly better range.

Yep point taken, will def get some valve body mods if i go down this path, still would like to know the outright suggested strength as I am sure I will be possibly stretching the friendship with it.

    Thanks
