few ideas, check to make sure the wiring hasnt been damaged or touching on a exhaust and shorted out or something like that. could possibly also be a broken sensor at the gearbox, if you know someone local to you maybe an idea to grab another and test it.
are you sure its the motor and not the switch? i had the switches give out on my cressida. you can test it by removing the door trim finding the connector that does to the winow motor and connecting + and - 12v to each pin, it will put the window up and down depending on the orientation. if its still dodgy you know its def the motor, if its fine then the switch is dead.
id dare say that ma70 maybe worth a look at for a motor if it is stuffed, perhaps even cressida. this is if you cant find another Z20 item.
i replaced the winder mechanism on my corolla, fairly much the same idea but.
while you have the door trim off, there will probably be a plastic sheet under it that will get in the way, there will be bolts holding the sissor looking thing inside the door, you will probably have to take some bolts off and shimmy the glass out the top then remove the rest of the bolts to drop the whole lot threw a big hole in the door. if you cant simply open your door at work, perhaps you could find a wood chock to prop the window up and lower it. or drive in reverse and use the passenger side window.
