Default ive moved to the dark side and im regretting my decision. help with r33

hey well.. i brought a r33 skyline, ( wait for the abuse to die down) and it turn out that they are no match for a Toyota as i have blown the head gasket..
does anyone recommend a good gasket manufacturer i would prefer one who do a vrs / head gasket kit..

    cheers Sam.

Skylines have many air lock issues, if you drained the radiator and refilled without undoing a pile of bleed valves and not run the motor without a radiator cap with a tube in the top to get a foot above the radiator until the motor warms up you would have got an airlock and blown the gasket.

Genuine Nissan or ACL race are both good gaskets. HKS do a MLS gasket too, they're well made. Probably better off on a skyline forum to get responses from people that are more than just a person with a mate who destroyed a Skyline who helped clean up the mess

the rb25 isnt that bad of a motor.
if it got hot, id be checking for warpage and if fitting a mls gasket, the surface has to be pretty dam perfect.

as beerhead said, all those gaskets are good.

You'll also need new head bolts. I just stuck ARP studs in my RB20 for ease of actually getting them.

There's some interesting engine pics from a failed oil pump on an R32 RB26. The pump fits over the snout of the crank and doesn't use a positively engaged cog or spline to transfer drive (relying on a flat machined into the snout. So they fail pretty spectacularly (and stuff the big-end in the process if you don't catch it).

    Thead on PF.

cracked inner rotor with flat drive section 'machined' off by crank.

yeh i seen a few of them 26 pumps give up too. but those 25's can make 400-450hp at treads with just bolt ons and live after some decent thrashing.
    still a nissan tho.

Haha, I had one for a while. Sold it when I realised that it was:

    1) Incredibly boring to drive
    2) Incredibly tempramental
    3) The same size as an AU falcon
    4) did I mention boring?

hmmmm yeah as an ex nissan mechanic i can vouch the 25 bleed process is tedious and a 1jz is better lol!
