3RZ turbo into 93 Hilux help please???

hey guys this is my very first post here it looks like a great form and heaps to read and learn!!!

well im turning my daily 93 extra cab lux with 22R into a bit of a project....first is im looking at putting a 3RZ into it and was wondering what i need to do to get around 250rwkw..... i have read the engines are strong but id like it to be super reliable as it will be used for daily duties with the occasional sprited drive lol

does it have to have the internals upgraded eg. rods and pistons? also i think ill put a good head gasket and head studs in it to be sure of the head not lifting...

id just like to build a good reliable motor and good strong box for it....has there been any auto gearboxes used behind them that have been up to the task?? i have a full manual TH400 behind my turbo Ls1 and i love it so i was thinking something like that would be sweet as a daily but would be happy to run a manual if it was up to the task??

geezus i have got a lot of questions hahahahah ahh well u dont know if u dont ask!! and i thought this would be the place to find out!! i know its been covered before but i wasnt sure what was crap and what wasnt crap i just hate doing things twice....

cant wait to get into it and then get some pics up of what im doing...fabrication is what i do for a living so thats no drama so its really only the parts and i can do the rest!

hey mate cant help you with the engine conv.
but i am currantly building a turbo 3rz for my 04 lux.
im going all out and chasing around th 500hp mark so my build wont be the same as urs.

there is a 3rz running around brisbane that layed 530hp on a dead stock motor apart form bolt ons. its on youtube if you wana have a look.

so with a good tune the bottom ends will last. if your chasing around the 200/300hp mark i wouldnt bother doing the bottom end unless your cashed up and want the peice of mind.

id just got with boltons like turbo,injectors, fuel system, ecu,fmic and maybe a plenum if you enjoy doing fab work yourself.

yer im not going to be going for all out grunt just something cool just a sleeper thats all mate....i dont mind spending a bit on it for reliablilty sake but if they dont need it well that would be awesome! what sort sort of comp do they run? is it worth doing the decomp plate??? and if so where do u get them from? id probly run a gt30 maybe off a XR6 or a t3/4 ??? i dont know what would suit mate?

your project sounds very cool and fun too!!! how long has that lux been going for with that sort of power and what gearbox is it running mate???

id love to get my teeth into the fabrication work and also create a cool inlet plenumn too!!! i do all my own stuff in that respect i love to create!!! this is my other project that has just been completed......hope im up tot the task to work on 4cylinders lol

the reason being that i ask so many questions i work for a place called Confidyne Motorsport and we are looking at doing a turbo kit for this engine to fit in the hilux's and was trying to find out some good info on what works and what is tried and tested as we would like to make some kits at diffrent levels of perfomance and options depending on the customers wantings.....

be good to get some feedback and help on any info on the turbo conversions on these engines please

with your gearbox question 1 have a 96 hilux with a turbo on the 22r it makes 290rwhp and the manual box has held up so far and has been down the strip to.
