i end up not using the bung. used the turbo oil drain flange on the pan instead since apparently i bought the wrong kit and it didn't fit the turbo.. note to self: TD04 turbo has different flanges from T3 T4s. got a machine shop weld two nuts inside the pan so the flange can be bolted.
this doesn't work very well as i'm still getting some smoke from the oil not draining properly, i think.
i'm guessing it's due to the slight tilt of the engine from the way it's mounted.. making the line not going straight down. OR maybe it's still not big enough.
My little brothers 3sgte in celica he bought had a 3/4" turbo drain on it (made from heater hose no less). Don't know if this is normal or not. On trucks they can be over 1" diameter drains, but i recon my dog could sleep in some of those turbos
Used 3/4" on the nissan pootrol i fit a turbo on at work the other day, no probs ther either. The three braided lines we used cost $170 too, include the fittings and drain hose it came to about $220 including heater hose T's, but at least i know they won't fail in the middle of no where.
