    Post Modified 18R making over 200hp +++++

    I have a 78 Cressida with a 18R and have put an 18RGEU head on it, running flat top forged 18R pistons, 288/288 cams, T05/04 Turbo, After market intercooler, well ported and polished, individual coils, Just wondering if there is anything else im missing? like do i have to baffle the sump? do i have to change the oil pump? anything you think ive missed please let me know... CheersuntitleddaBeast2.JPG

    Hi,

    Baffle the sump if you intend to take it on the track and don't want a stuffed engine due to low oil (as it sloshes about) when heavy cornering. The stock 18R-G oil pump is pretty good.

    Make sure it is well tuned. You may also wish to install an oil temperature gauge, and depending on how the oil temperatures sit, you may then want to install an oil cooler, as the turbo (assuming oil cooled) will heat the bajeezuz out of the oil that goes through it, and your sump may lack the capacity to effectively dilute the super heated oil into the normally hot oil.

    While you are baffling the sump, it could be a good idea also to add another inch or so onto the bottom to increase the capacity - again for cooling reasons (though if you extend your oil pickup at the same time, you can help to alleviate the oil surge issues a bit)

    Had oil pickup and pan lengthened and baffled, falcon trans cooler added for oil cooler,

    BONUS . . . i also added Koni adjustable rear shocks ( jamex super low springs )off a 93 mitsi evo3, and front (super low jamex springs)
    Lowered the ride height to right on the 100mm mark and awesome riding,

    Going for dyno tune next week, after i change the afm system, i heard u can run honda computers on these engines for revs and fuel to match the turbo, and NO AFM

    I would go an aftermarket ECU. You are playing with fire using another engine's computer on a heavily modified motor. Adaptronics are quite popular, simple to use, easy to tune and kill the AFM off your list of restrictions. Even the baby Adaptronic is more than capable of doing what you want. The Megasquirt series are also quite capable, however are a little less likely for your tuner to be familiar with. Then of course there are the ever popular Haltech, Link and Wolf ECUs.
