KE30 Corolla Front Strut Question!

Hey Guys my shock cartridge in the front of my KE30 corolla is gone, do i have to take out the whole strut just to replace it, or can i leave the strut in there and just change the cartridge?

You have asked two questions I think.

You remove the strut from the car and then you can remove the shock insert or old oil shock (if it's an original item) from the strut. Fit your new shock insert to the strut, refit to car, get wheel alignment.
