Default 2JZ Electronic Throttle Control Fly by wire help needed

Hi Guys, I have managed to pick up an engine package, supposedly from a JZA80!

2JZ-GE VVTi engine with Auto trans. From checking numbers it appears to be from a JZS151 Crown. The loom was cut and no ECU supplied, yep learnt my lesson well here.

Finding a loom was mission impossible. ECU's lots avaialable ex Yahoo Japan.

Ended up getting loom and ECU from an IS300 Lexus. Sounds great, but the loom was never meant for that engine, way too many plugs, and not enough sensors. Gearbox loom connections are all wrong as the IS300 had a 5 speed auto, and what came in the Crown was a strange 4 speed, not the common A340.

Biggest problem that I can see is that the JZS151 had a cable operated throttle and cruise control. Looks like the IS300 runs a fly by wire throttle setup.

    My options?

a, find a suitable Electronic Throttle Control throttle body, and an electronic gas pedal, or

b, try to hook the sucker up as a manual throttlebody.

Option a, could take some time to find the parts, and option b, may be more of a real pain in the arse than I need.

What are your thoughts, any constructive ideas would be hugely welcome.

    cheers Chuck.

Default Re: 2JZ Electronic Throttle Control

vvti 2jz-ge with electronic throttle uses etcs-i system. that said, throttle body comprises of motor driven choke , and separate cable-driven sector similar to usual throttles. so you just need to find etcs-i throttle and hook it up. It shall bolt on without any fancy tweaking.

I will soon install 5-speed auto on my 1jz-ge vvti (instead of 4-speed one). It will need ects-i throttle, new ecu and new loom. Looks like the procedure is quite similar to yours. I may post some photos after I finish.
