and you're still alive! It's a miracle!
Well, I finally got my front end back together, changed the engine and gearbox oil and bled the brakes. Going to get a wheel alignment done tomorrow and try and get the AVCR installed.
What a relief!

Spoke too soon. Last job of the day, put the filler plug back in the gearbox and now the GT4 is out for Friday.
Dont even want to think about how long it's gonna take me to replace this

Holy shit that is not good. Dibs first passenger lap in the IS-F
If in doubt power out
Devcon will get you by for Wakefield....just screw the plug back in with some on the threads and then pack the rest around. You can fill the box thru the top breather...which is how i used to do it actually

Too many muscles!
I'm with Justen, bit of devcon will patch that right up without an issue.
My car is as ready as it will ever be, new front end, no rear seats, and no stupid little weight on the front cross member (cause that one matters) and all fluids checked.

Yeah, I have the piece that's come out. Looks like it's not a new problem, as it has silvery solidified goop of some description on it (which I'm guessing was holding it in place until now).
Wonder if I can get a mobile welder out here tomorrow..... Cant see whay this little piece couldnt be welded back in.
Thanks for the tip Justen, I'll get some devcon if i can't get someone to weld it for me

Would supercrap sell this devcon stuff? Which one is the best one to get? Titanium putty?
Project megap00 - Gave up and sold up. Money tree died
I think they would, bunnings probably does too, and maybe autobarn.
I didn't get devcon, I just found a 'metal putty' to use.

Yeah any of the 'liquid weld' type products will do....just check the label to make sure it can handle oils.
on other news, 2 jerries of sweet smelling E85 filled and ready for the journey thru the GT8

"just welding" high silicon fairly thin alloy castings, when vertical, is probably not an in-car job
roughen up all around it with maybe 180grit so it will bond (an extra cm or so around it, around the boss a bit so ti has something to grip on mechanically) and make a big solid devcon lump
any kind of metal filled epoxy will sorta work, but the better quality ones will work betterer
edit, and clean it... prepsol? thinner? not turps or any other oily solvent (WD40 etc)
brake cleaner might be ok, or that spray PCB cleaner

Well my car is all back together - haven't test driven but fingers crossed everything's sweet when i leave tomorrow.
If you're staying with us at the Pelican, probably a good idea to bring a sleeping bag and pillow but we're in the cabins with blankets and a heater so should cope anyway. Also remember licences, helmet and suitable clothing.
Those of you meeting me at Brooks Rd servo - 7:30 for 7:45? Or should we just say 8pm>

I'm running to schedule - that is, I've done nothing to my car. will swap tyres and pads tonight before leaving, rest will have to be done at wakefield. Can someone bring a spark plug gapper and feeler gauge please? need to drop .1 - .15mm in those gaps if I want to rev above 5k
