    Default Upgraded Injectors: 3SGE

    Hi Guys,

I have been running a Sard RJ FPR in my Camry, and after a month of service it has stuffed up, and causing fuel to shoot out the exhaust ... beware the ones with the red sticker, I brought it off one of the guys in the Classified section...

Anyways I have now thrown the stock FPR back in, and the motor is now running lean as it was dynoed with 50 psi of fuel pressure. As I understand, the best way to get more fuel is to upgrade the injectors rather than play with regs...

The specs of the donk are:
Gen 1 3SGE, Rebuilt with 41,000 ks on it. Stock internals.
Microtech LT10-s ECU, with X4 box, and 4 Bosch ignition coils. 8.8 Top gun ignition leads. Platinum plugs (soon to be irridium when these die )
Walbro 342 (255 l/h) intank pump, GTE fuel filter.
K&N Apollo CAI kit, Genie Extractors (2 inch), upto 2.25 at the intemediate pipe, and 2.5 inch at the Varex muffler.

So it pretty much has most of the external supporting mods done, the car is my daily, and the goal is to have a car that is still (somewhat ) economical to drive, put surprises the odd common whore, which she happily did before the death of the FPR.

I can't find for sure, but a source tells me that the gen 1 has 295 cc side feed injectors? If this is correct would something like 350 cc be the way to go? For example: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SUZUKI-TOYOTA...item3f098167e1 (I will buy new, just used this for an example)

I can fit them no worries, I just have NO IDEA how to size these things.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Ryan

gen 1 NA is top feed (or at least the example I have is). fwiw: I was going run my 4AGZE or 7MGTE units as they flow a bit more. The plugs are different (again, going by what I got in the box of bits with my motor) so you may have to replace the 4 plugs in your loom.

Only going up 8psi in rail pressure won't increase the injector flow by much.
    Probably 20cc or so.

It would be easier to just get the laptop out and increase the overall fuel by 5-10%

most 3sge are set from factory at 80 percent duty cycle ,that pump that you have is very high at 255 litres per hour .i would have thought that would over heat the fuel pushing it up and then back to the tank
bo subject i have some gen 4 3sge injectors which will drop in and are 365cc at 42lbs of pressure ,but you will need to change the plug ends they are also 13.8 ohms like std from factory

all 3sge motors are top feed and hi imp, only gen2/3 3sGte are side feed and low imp.

i can't see any mods that have drastically improved how much air will be ingested into the motor so i see no need for more fuel and upgrading the stock inj's. just get it re-tuned with the stock reg.

    Hi Guys,

Thanks everyone for that usefull information. As soon as its not Air Conditioning I'm playing with, I have know idea on the techical front, but trying to learn fast.

Hmmmn so I pretty much just need a retune. I was thinking about putting a slightly lumpier cam in the future, (or a GTE head and associated components for a good price) and I think the motor was rebuilt but the old injectors where reused...

Anyways, if these will do the job for now, I will just get her retuned. This will help with the fuel economy and help pay for the "fun" car.

    Again, Thanks a bunch everyone!

Don't really need a retune if you change your injector size mate, just adjust the master trim on the ecu based on the % change of the fuel injector sizes. A wideband is the best way to go to make sure you don't overdo it at top end.

Cheers Beerhead, I ended up doing that in the mean time till I can get a retune done properly on the Dyno.

Been looking at wideband 02 sensors for a bit but can't find one to suit my manifold. Any reccomendations on make? I have Genie extractors in place atm.

    Cheers,

    Ryan

you'll porb have to weld in an extra bung for the wideband or make an plate which bolts to the org location and drill and tap the middle to suit the wideband sensor.

    So bringing this thread back to life;

Ended up going wideband O2 sensor,

Just stuck a gt3071 and plan on screwing a fair amount of boost into

Just wondering if anyone knows the injector O ring size and length of the gen 1 fuel injectors? Looking at them I believe the are a top feed unit, looks like they are 40mm in length

    Thank for reading :-)

Ive got some spare gen1 3sgte injs.440cc but they are low imp.

If you want hi imp then a set of gen4 3sgte injs from the caldina are hi imp and 550cc

    Hi Jonathan,

Thanks but looking at some Bosch 1250cc injectors, just need to confirm the o ring size as Injector Dynamics lists two versions, one with a 11mm adaptor and another with a 14mm injector

Looks like overall length is 70.7mm from top O ring to bottom O ring

I'm emailing Injector Dynamics to see what they recommend, bit worried about pulling the injectors to measure and ending up with leaking seals as I don't see the point if I'm upgrading

Awesome thanks mate, just got a reply back saying that I may need 11 or 14mm ones, thanks for clearing that up! 11mm is the go

They also said that they are side feed from the factory and I would need a top feed conversion kit - thechuckster said above that they are top feed? Looking around on google some say top feed, some say side feed. Can you shed some light on this?
