Default Need help - 1jz GTE vvti conversion

    Hi guys,

I'm new here, my name is Rahim from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. My project now is to install 1jz engine on my benz W124. Problem is engine can start but for only 5-10 second. Try to rewiring with diagram (I got it from Mr. George - Thanks) but still not working. My engine is 1jz GTE VVTI with ECU No. 89661-3A660. Try to unplug air flow sensor & clean up vvti, ETCS-i, but still not working. Guys, please give me idea or something - Thanks in advance.

Rahim, I had the same symptom on first start of my 1JZ-GTE VVTI, it was the MAF or as some call it the Air Flow Meter AFM.
Are you really going to run the engine without an intercooler as in the pic?

    cheers Chuck.

Today I'm going to double check my air flow sensor, maybe the problem is there. Bro "Z" UTE, its only a pic, of course I use intercooler, not complete yet. Thanks.

I Was refering to the comment chuck made regarding running the car without an intercooler...

i would suggest checking that you have no vacuum leaks in your intercooler piping or other pipework

Thanks, will make sure no leakage. Currently intercooler located near to engine with cooler fan (you can see it in pic, small intercooler for test) for temporary.
