Default Early corolla pano with 4AGTE & top mounted W2A IC

    Hi everyone,

I'm after some info (more specifically the IC set up) on a car that was featured in a magazine many years ago, and hoping someone on here knows the car.

It was a yellow, early corolla panel van (set up for sprints/hill climbs/etc) on early Supra rims, etc... Had a 4AGTE in it, and used a Subaru WRX top mounted intercooler, that was welded up and converted to a water-to-air unit. This is the bit that most interests me.... it was running quad throttles, and the end tank feeding the throttles had individual runners.

If anyone knows about this car, or in detail how the cooler set up was done (pics would be enough) that would be much appreciated, as I'm considering something like this on my 4AGTE 20v build.

    Or

If anyone has some something similar, I'd love to see some pics and/or details on how you've done it.

    Thanks,

    Dave.

don't know anything about that car, but enclosing an ATA intercooler to make it a WTA unit isn't the right way to go and it'd be inefficient.

proper WTA units have a different core style/setup. easiest way would be to either bet a WTA unit from an st165/185/205 celica gt4 or the subaru liberty if your after an oem look.

plenty of people have used the liberty and st165 units for the 4agze's in aw11's. but if you have the space you'd prob want the larger st185 or 205 ones for a higher boosted turbo.

Yeah not so much interested in using a A2A core, more so how the end tanks and runners were set up. Was very neat!

pretty sure it was a ke20, and it was a kiwi car. bloke did all the work himself. I looked it up recently in a fast fours. problem was in the article they left a whole page out, and didn't have an engine bay shot.

IRS from a supra was in it as well.

    awesome little car.

what did you need to know... had a setup based on that build a while back.

after enclosing we remanuactured the exit of the intercooler into a simple even enclosure with same spacing as the throttle bodies.... then connected with small silicon pipe joiners and alloy elbows....blow off valve was in standard position. worked a treat in fast spoolup etc and flow seemed good, with a bit over 200 rwkw, and inlet temps were stable as anything once we went to a bigger radiator unit.
