All depends what you want to do with it. 308 can't be regoed huh.
Hi all...
I'm starting a full long term rebuild with a KE-55 corolla and am going to be dropping a 308 in it. My problem is staying manual or going auto... would need something strong to handle the power...but also something that's going to fit. Would love some advice on this issue. I'm new to this so you may cop quite a few questions along the way!

oh true? knew it would be a hassle getting a mod plate, but had no idea it was impossible... changes things a bit. Do you know if a 253 can be regod?
its capacity to weight mate, look up your states roads dept for the number to multiply by your weight . In vic I think its 4 to 1 IE 1000kg car is 4L max or 2.75 if its turbo or supercharged rotories are different again as the look at them as 2 strokes or something and double capacity of motor actual cc's.
So a corolla KE55 would weigh around 850 kg ? At a guess so your looking at around 3.4 L max NA or 2.4 turbo But these figures could be out by a bit it has been a while since I looked em up and the brain is forgetting more than it remembers now days.
KE30's came with Traumatics, so a beefier 6cyl version might suffice? depends on end use.
for NSW, i think it is 2.5x for turbo and 3x for NA, if car is under 1000 or 1100kg
for V8 in KE30, you would need to ICV.. and an older 308 will not pass current emissions
