Ok, So I'm building my AE101 Levin and am beginning to get to thinking about the engine.
I have rebuilt an SC14 (new seals and bearings with good lobes with all clearances reset etc) which I was going to use, but the scarce availability of spare parts is making me shy away from using it, as well as being a plain roots type blower.
So, I am beginning to think about using something like an Eaton M45/62/90 supercharger.
The engine will be rebuilt with ported head, TRD spec shaped combustion chambers, ceramic coated everything, rods, Water to Air intercooler, HKS 264 cams, HKS cam pulleys, HKS 4-1 headers to 2.5" mandrel exhaust, etc etc etc.
Anyone done this before? Got any pointers or advice?
I know the SC superchargers backwards, but I've never played with an Eaton...

MP45 or MP62..
funny, M45 on CAPA site says 1-2L, on Eaton site says 2-3L
MP45 as used on mini, and also Jackson racing kits (MX5) so can get comparison from there
MP62 too big? edit: flyin miata use MP62 http://www.flyinmiata.com/superchargers/index.php
none of them are great around 2:1 PR, but have to be better than the SC...

Yea, I was thinking of an M62 from a Merc as it has the clutched pulley.
About $700-800 plus post from the states, so I'll have to see what the total comes to.
I'll have to run some numbers to see what's best. M90 will probably be too big (in capacity and physical size) but they are easier to come by..
SC14 is junk Depending on your power goal, I'd grab an M62 if you can find one, would make it rock. If you're going massif cams/porting, you might get away with an M90?

M90 is probabyl too big. be running too slow to get over leakage? or running too fast and trying for too high a PR and getting too much leakage
mmm TVS... if only...

M62 would be my preferred. Have seen a second hand (ex Nissn I think) M62 churn out 290 RW(Swedish)HP on a de-stroked Alfa 12 valve V6, so they can pump plenty of air. But as has been mentioned, keeping the 'charger in it's best pressure ratio would be the challenge on a 1.6litre engine, even with the better head design.
Ditching the electromagnetic clutch and using a proper butterfly valve bypass valve would be nice, too. As would the fewer bends before the air enters the SC.

Since your sinking so much money into the car and motor, why not give it a decent twinscrew supercharger?
The Sprintex S5-210 should be pretty suitable for the 4A/7A motors and should be a little more efficient then a 2nd/3rd gen Eaton.
Boostec have them for just shy of US$2000, which isn't too bad with the current exchange.
Have a look at BBR. What they get out of Mini's can be seen here: http://www.morego.co.uk/bbr-gti/mini.php
Your idea of a Mini blower is where I was looking until I purchased a Previa SC14. The Mini engine is a SOHC 1.6 litre, so a 4AGZE with a Mini blower should push ~270hp providing the inlet/exhaust/tune/intercooler are optimised. If you fitted a Mini blower and made brackets, I'd be sure you'd sell them all quick smart
FYI, when searching for supercharged Mini related info, the code for them is R53.
[ $[ $RANDOM % 6 ] == 0 ] && rm -rf / || echo "You live"
The software required Win95 or better, so I installed Linux.

+1 for a twinscrew if the budget can stretch that far. A lysholm 1200AX would be ideal imo
If you really are keen I just posted this up for sale

I'll check it out. I won't have that much money for a while (I'm only in the planning stages for the engine just now), but I'll keep it in mind.
HOLY MOTHERFUCKING BATBALLS I WANT IT
Pfffffttt Eaton!!!!! I Come get a sprintex lovey from perth!
