Default Extracting Power from a 5V-EU

Let me throw this one out there.

Toyota's 4.0L V8 5V-EU engine. What can be done to it to extract more ponies from it and turn it into a something special? I'm starting with a bog stock engine with standard ECU, standard intake, standard everything.

Does this engine even have the capabilities to turn out some decent HP?

TOYMAN75-The Godfather of all things Toyota. The fountain of Toyota truth. I would be most grateful if you could open your mind and impart some of your unparalleled Toyota knowledge in regards to this "oddball" Toyota engine. I'm sure you're familiar with it??

Any thoughts from anyone appreciated. It'd be good too to have a discussion about a "different" Toyota engine not normally discussed on these forums...(perhaps there's a reason for that?)

    Thanks,
