One runs a flap AFM, and the other a karmaan vortex AFM.
One runs a distributer, and other coil packs.
Highly incompatible with each other.
If it starts and revs, its the right ecu.
Hi All,
I have just bought a bit of a basket case project that needs finishing.
Its a GA70 that has had a 7MGTE dropped in, half finished.
Now i have a MX83 Cressida as a daily and i have a spare ecu I scabbed from a mate.
The ecu in the Supra looks mostly the same as my spare Cressida one.
The mounts are different and the tape squares are different but that's about it.
The prob is that the supposed GTE ecu's sticker has worn/faded to unreadable and it has wrecker texta with 7MGTE written on it.
The 3 plugs are exactly the same, the engine loom matches up, i just want to make sure i have something that will deal with boost....
I just don't want a non turbo MA70 trying to run this engine.
Cheers.
Shane.

Thanks champ, I knew of the sensor differences but did not want to plug the engine into the wrong ECU.
I assumed that would be the simplest way to tell if its the right ecu.
Also assuming that the internal wiring of the ECU won't create a short an burn the whole thing to the ground (over dramatisation at it's worst) or just fry the ECU...
It's like saying, I got this 230v plug from somewhere, the pins are the same but have no idea what is on the other end, what the heck I'll plug it in and see what happens...
That's why Im asking.
OK, so I laid both ecus out side by side.
They were definitely different internally but there are no major markings internally to tell explicitly what is what and who lives behind which engine.
I have taken photos but I don't think they are much help.
The layouts of each circuit board were different.
I have two part numbers from each board;
The known GE has 175031-1591 on the ??motherboard??
The unknown GTE has 175031-1380 on the underside of the ??daughterboard??
I have googled these but nothing is found, does anyone have access to Toyota databases that can confirm anything?
As for the pinouts being printed on each board, Toyota didn't seem to do this on 7M ecus.
The only markings were component ids ie R501 for resistor 501.
Thanks.
