    Question Diff ID ??

I removed this diff from a jzx81 which may not help as the car was also fitted with 2jgte and 154 so may not be original. it has 4.1 ratio,8" ringgear and 3-1 F200 on back plate.would appreciate any help in identifying this as i am trying to put car together in time for nats and have a couple of diff options to consider.
    cheers greg.

It looks like a stock diff, but I dont have enough reference photos to be able to tell if its a LSD or not. Have you tried turning one side shaft to see what the other does? What does the build plate say?

As for the number of bolts, I have only ever seen a Cressida or JZX81/GX81 or JZA70 have 6 on the side shaft and 4 on the tail shaft - is your donor Cressida different?

The 6 bolt means genuine JZX81 and the ratio agrees with that too. Just need to confirm lsd operation or not like zop suggests
    Now - 1988 GX81 Mark II- 7MGTE, GT35R, TiAL 44m, Microtech, 550cc injectors, R154, Xtreme clutch, LSD.... Low boost tune done = 330rwhp@1 BAR...
Then - 1989 MX83 - The big scrap heap in the sky...

you are right paul the cressida does have six studs but they are spaced further apart and are on a scalloped plate with about 8mm studs .these shafts have a round plate with 12mm studs closer together, the axles that come off them also look heavier. will pop up to stew's place and retreive my verniers! I can"t stop one side by hand will have to get a hand to put some pressure on it.
    Thanks guys greg.

update guys there is a Id number F20SX-C embossed on the side. this makes little sense looking at toyota id codes. axles are not any heavier. it would make sense if it was G294.
    cheers greg.
