Default Would an A340LE fit my 1J ?????

Ive been looking into my auto issues and come a cross a A340LE out of a 2J
Aristo.the splines are the same as my gearbox,i assume same bellhousing, but does anyone know if the electrics will be the same?

Or would i buy the loom aswell with the gearbox.

My Cressida has JZA70 motor, auto and ECU in it.

    Cheers.

Okay, it gets pretty f*cked up right here...

I think the LE doesn't run a line pressure cable? but instead has a kickdown switch ? (anyone confirm? southo? )

speed senders are the real bastard.. basicly you need to check that the sensors are the same type (2 wire, or 3 wire) and they run off the same amount of teeth inside the box... yes.. i know.. fun fun fun.. but there are a bunch of different combinations running around, physically, it should fit.. (chasers have a A340LE at some point i think behind a 1j) but its the leccys that might f*ck you up...

My Aristo came without a kickdown cable, although I've heard some Aristos do have them. Also be aware the Aristo auto doesn't have a spline on the output shaft to suit a traditional slip-yoke, instead it has a big 3-pronged flange which is bolted to the tailshaft via a black rubber donut. Yes it's weird!

i don't believe any of them have a kickdown cable so to speak.. some have a line-pressure cable that mounts to the throttle body...

the yoke sounds the same as the soarer one..

Ok,i spoke to southo about the slip yolk.He used the standard Cressida tailshaft before the 1 piece he got made.So thats covered

I was only abit worried about the electric side of it.

Toyshop have a few aristo autos they say so il go and have a look at the kickdown situation.

I might be better of to stick with a JZA70 or JZX81/90 auto.

Has anyone got 1 for sale?

cressida_1jz, you can use a A340LE from a JZZ30 Soarer, you just need to pull the pan of it and your old one and swap the loom over also you need to swap the selector over.

(i know this works, ive done it before)

Try ringing places like SSS and the like, they should have jzz30 box's in stock

just call me the God of blowing up box's in cressida's

    Mark,

I used the factory Tailshaft AFTER I had the rear sections swapped (ie, the Cressida rear section was fitted to the Aristo Transmission to enable the same speedo sensor and ABS Plugs to be used.)

I have an A340LE with the kick down switch (which I have NOT connected up and it seems to work fine)

remember a soarer box will have the odd output on it instead of the slipper yoke..

In case thats not what you want...

Both R154 and the A340E out of MA70/ MZ20's all use a slip yoke identical to the MX83 as well.
