never seen a jza80 pedal install but good work on it and on the write up
So this is how I did my clutch pedal into my mx83. It was not particularly difficult but working in confined spaces upside down with shit sticking into your back makes me quickly loose patience. As i have now completed it as of about 10mins ago it proves that its not that difficult if even I can do it. Other pedals maybe able to be fitted, maybe some with less modification. I dont care, this is real first hand info done by me. Ive made this thread to give back to the community not for my own personal gain. I dont take any responsibility if you fail.
I started off with
zenki jza80 pedal/bracket
clutch master
clutch line
First of all you will need to punch out the plug for the clutch master (these the holes there from factory, mine was already done for me as the previous owner had some sick cables for his stezza threw there).
If you have a S1 with cable speedo you may want to grind a bit off the bracket around the cable, just mark with a felt pen and grind.
Now to clarify the holes in the fire wall suit the jza80 master cyl so from the engine side its business as usual. jza80 item is needed if you have a 2jz to clear the rear turbo. You can simply bolt the pedal to the master cylinder, it will fit put you wont get full travel and it will hit the floor. you could probably do something a tad dodgy and simply adjust the rod i guess. I didn't think of that at the time and decided to do it properly.
To space the pedal to get the required swing, I cut some steel tubing and slipped it over the small tubes that is already there and put some tack welds around it. From memory they where 22mm long.
The pedal looking from the fire wall side, note the tube like spacers that are already there, aprox 10mm from memory, the tube spacers I made fit nicely around these.
Spacers cut
Spacers tack welded in place
With this much spacing the rod does not have enough adjustment.
I had a bit off a camry brake booster which I used, it was just long enough at full adjustment. Ill let the pics do the talking for this bit. you could also make something easily enough from scratch.
Now this bit is actually plastic filled, you could bend out the tabs and remove it before you weld. Or you can do what i did and choose the easier method of not doing this. Due to the high heat caused by welding the plastic melts, then boils and finally catches fire. Kinda amusing but make sure you don't get melting plastic on you, and turn it up the other way so it doesn't all run out.
Welded and painted
Now the fire wall will flex like a 14yo trying to impress a girl as its only bolted to the master. You could put a bolt in somewhere else but I chose a easier option of making a small brace. One end bolted to the brace for the steering column and the other welded to the bracket.
Here is the finished product, seems to line up well. The brake pedal obviously has to be cut down as its the massive auto one.

There's a couple threaded holes already there from factory for this reason. My pedal box, no idea what it was from sorry, had a tab that lined up with one of them. Too easy..Now the fire wall will flex like a 14yo trying to impress a girl as its only bolted to the master. You could put a bolt in somewhere else but I chose a easier option of making a small brace. One end bolted to the brace for the steering column and the other welded to the bracket.
Oh and the 2 spacers you tacked up are similar to my setup i suppose, except i put the bolt through the firewall (well, the bolts on the master cylinder), tightened it with a 2 nuts, then put the bracket over the top and tightened it with another nut. So the 2 nut acts as a spacer.. From memory on the other side there's only 1 nut to space it out.

it was convenient, got the master in the same go for the same seller while i was in Japan. jza80 are fairly common, im not 100% sure if N/a are the same but these always plenty of jza80s around being wrecked.
also ill add that the gx81 and lx80 clutch pedals are no long available as i tried to buy them. this is why i did a modified one.
ill grab another pic of the little brace i put in as well when i think of it. hope someone finds this helpful
yeah i know, but it was easier to put a brace in elsewhere. there is a hole in the bracket on the jza80 one but it didnt quite line up. as mentioned im lazy and it was a easier option for me. works just as well but bolting to the firewall threaded holes may make a neater job.
Ummm... MA61 pedal box and master bolt straight in perfect with no mods required... That's what we put in Cue340's cressie when we did the manual conversion. It just works...
But without that info, your system looks like a good option too...

i made a thread on here about other options. i searched several times. a lot claimed that they fitted.... but then they went on to say this and that little modification needed to be done. research pointed towards everyone using MA70 gear. like i said mate this is how i did it with my bus![]()
awsome right up mate been searching for ages for what parts to buy out of curiosity how much did the parts cost ya if u dont mind me asking?
also the fire wall fext did your brace remove all of the flex or do u think more could be done?
i like how the pedals line up as well thought it would have stuck past the brake a bit more so im happy doing it this way!
yep it removed pretty much all flex. exactly what it needed.
um, the bits where used.
1400yen for the pedal
2100yen for the master, line and v160 slave
