Default Toyota Crown 4M Sump hump relocation

Has anyone ever had a go at swapping the location of the oil pickup hump on the 4M Toyota Crown sump and by using an extended oil pickup tube. We'd love to use a 4M engine in a rod were building and we don't want to modify the subframe so by having the hump moved from the centre to at the rear this would correct the problem. We have a Tig so using a spare sump for the modifications won't be a problem but would the oil pump handle the extra tubing distance.

M series sumps come in 3 arrangements.

    -Front
    -Mid (what you currently have)
    -Mid-Rear

Have you looked at using a Mid-Rear sump as found on 7MGE in MA70? This might work out of the box, or at least be a better starting point for mods if required

Sumps across all M series are interchangeable, however you also need to swap oil pumps and may need to drill the engine block to relocate the dipstick etc.

    Cheers

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by 'mounting hole'

    What do you mean?

Where the sump mounts to the block, I've now looked up 7MGE and there is some difference. We started doing the mods to the 4M sump last night using 2 sumps.

I'm running a 4M sump/pick up on my 7M to get it to fit into the crown. so it would work the other way. I'm sure I have a MA70 sump I could take some pics of the and its yours for postage.
