    Default 18rg TDC marks.

Where should the two timing marks on the cam gear be when the motors at top dead centre (TDC)? Having trouble with getting it started, has fuel, compression, spark but still not firing... so it leads me to cam timing.

    Cheers

    hI,

It's in the manual that you should've used to build the engine (the green 18rg bible) but those notches in the cams are supposed to be pointing up when the engine is at TDC of 1 when firing. Make sure your timing isn't out by 180deg. Done that before.... The notch too is in the cam, not the the cam gear. Depending on the model rg head will depend on if you can adjust the gears on the cam, though it is only slightly and wouldn't stop it from running.

Also, if you have good compression your cam timing should be good. If it's out by too much it'll be banging about and probably have no compression.
