am i better of with the 3sfe or the 5sfe of the top of my head the 5sf is a smaller engine right?
bigger. 2.2L.slight different mounts
easiest 3sfe from another camry
a bit harder 3sge from st162
a bit more harder 3sge from mr2 (gen2)
quite a bit harder gen3 3sge from mr2 bathurst/st202 celica
fairly fkn hard cos wiring is a pita, gen4 beams 3sge (caldina/st202)
whats your budget?
so with the right engine mounts ill get them all to bolt up???
3sfe sounds good and easy if i get it from an auto will my manual box bolt straitup ?
3 mounts are on the gearbox, 1 on the driver side bolts into a space under the cam pulleys.
if you're just going 3sfe, just get the motor and it'll all bolt up fine. reuse your ds engine mount if need be.
wiring will be different as it now EFI no carbi. easiest solution is head to a wreckers and pull out the whole ecu and loom and transplant.
willl i get a 4age into into the bay will mounts line up?? will that work because i can get one cheap
or will cv joints and drive shafts start getting too involved
dont even consider it. kill the idea like a roach.
stick to 3s for easiest transplanting. 4a is smaller all around, biggest pita for you if you did attempt
3sfe sounds like the go .. easy conversion all bolt up .... do i need to add a fuel return line or any thing ... just throw in a new looom bolt up the ecu... cvs in and go ayee??? think im up 4 the easy option 4 now i need to get it back on the road

Go with a 5S-FE from a ST20x Celica.
They are pretty strong, and should be cheap to buy.

5SFE/ late 3SFE has superior port size and flow. Get a 3SFE from a rav4 if you've got a SV21, missing the middle engine mounts (dude to center diff) so it doesn't bolt into a wide body, but a SV21 everything will work, as they're on the gearbox.
If you can make your own mounts I'd put a 1MZ in for sure, they're worth nothing at the wreckers and make 150kw.
mmm talked to keithy ill have a 3sfe in a sv21 at my house tommorow morning
little rear damage apparantally running fine with an auto mates rates $150... yeaah
guess ill take what i need and sell off / scrap the rest ... sweet
got the efi i wanted mmmmm... reliability cheerz for all the heaps good ideas
how long do yous think the swap will take .. ???? busy day then .....
where is the ecu in my camry doing my head in ... is there an easy way to get my loom out
