Question pulley for a 1G-GE engine

    Hi all.

My pulley on the crankshaft is starting to split up in the rubber damping.
The local Toyota dealer can't get it any more.

Do you know of pulleys from other engines that will fit? (Thinking of 5/7M's or something similar, even the 1G-GTE engines have a different part number)

    Kind regards Dennis

definitley not the 5M-E, and the 7M has 1 extra rib on its belts so i would say no to that as well as the outer circuit would not line up, and im pretty sure the 5M-GE would not work either for the same reason as 7M

maybe if you used the alternator, power steer and waterpump pulleys from the 7M as well but it would be a gamble as i cannot say for sure.

if i remember correctly the 1G-GE pulley is unusual as it has a 2 rib on the inside and then a 3 rib and another 3 rib

maybe someone with experience with 4A-GE's might be able to help?

You could try a pulley for a Lexus is200 as it runs the same block and would be a current Toyota part. I would also be surprised if a 1ggteu did not fit. More than likely it is just a matter of the 1ggteu having an extral drive pulley.

Thanks for clearing that for me, then I will stop thinking about that and search in other directions
I have a friend that knows his 4A-GE stuff, will try to contact him.

I have thought about that, but again the partnumbers doesn't match, so I would like to be sure before I order. As soon as it says Lexus on the box, then it costs extra
But just by comparing enginebays it looks very much the same.

The pulley on the 1GGE is a harmonic pulley. I have been told that using one from a 1GGTE won't be good, because it could be tuned to another frequency.

Do you guys have any input on this?
