Default MX83 odometer works, speedo doesn't

Trying to finish off the 1JZ conversion in my S2 MX83. Have just hooked up the speedo sensor but only the odometer is working. The speedo needle doesn't budge. Anyone have any ideas?

Have you checked not loose wires/connections?
You could just try another cluster to determine if the problem is in the cluster or elsewhere.

up to posting this thread I hadn't taken the car for a drive of more than a couple of hundred metres. I've since taken it for a better drive and after a couple of minutes the speedo kicked into action. obviously it's deterioration of either the circuit board, caps, or both.

Are you still having the same problems or has it gone away?

I took the car for another run up the street today and it seems to be okay
