1jz conversion speedo query

hi guys i'm planning a 1jz transplant into my 1962 s series valiant, i'm planning on using the auto from the 1j but am wondering:

are the speedos on most 1jz auto cars digital or cable??

if digital is there a way to convert it to drive my original analogue/cable speedo because i would REALLY like to do that if possible

as far as I know they are all digital. And besides auto g/box does not have dedicated sensor for gauges, however there are ways around the problem.

As for your wish to save original speedo look, I see 2 ways of doing this:
1 Have a modern speedo built in your cluster
2 Find appropriate electical motor that would drive you cable and make electical circuit that controls this motor according to electical signal it sees from speed sensor

I'm familiar with both ways and I prefer the first one. Unfortunately my location makes helping you in real kinda quest

While they are all digital to my knowledge, I'm pretty sure that on non-VVTi engine / gboxes that there is a separate discrete speed sensor for the dash! It lives on the drivers side. (yes I understand the signal also goes from the dash to the engine ECU, but it's a separate sensor to the one that the engine ECU use primarily for the auto gbox shifting etc )

If you don't have a VVTi auto then I'm pretty sure you should be able to just swap in a 'mechanical' body from an older A340E (i.e MX83) that allows you to connect a cable (I've done this with my 2JZGTE A340E )
