    Default apexi powerfc map sensor - how to enable

    Hi Guys,
    I have tried to connect up the MAP sensor from the boost control kit to the PowerFC. However I am unsure how to enable the PowerFC to properly use the new MAP sensor and not from the old MAP sensor.

    This is on a 1JZ-GTE (JZA70-based) PowerFC.

    Is there a particular procedure? Do I need to have the engine off? do I need to turn off the ignition once the settings are changed from "NORMAL" to "APEX"?

    Once I change it to "APEX", HC reads boost of "0.48kg/m^2" @ BAP.

    On normal, HC reads -22mmHg, 2622mV

    Much appreciated if anyone can help.

    BK.

    Any ideas?

    I have a reading of 1.98V with the denso 6270 MAP sensor with a "reading" of +0.37kg/cm^2 (+3700 kg/m^2) on the hand controller.

    stock sensor is reading 2.626V with a "reading" of -26mmHg (-354 kg/m^2), with current barometric pressure of 1005 hPa (10248 kg/m^2)

    PIM calculation for stock:
    PIM = 5346V - 3785
    PIM = 5346*2.626 - 3785
    PIM = 10253.596 kg/m^2

    Which sounds about right since I know my stock MAP sensor is out by ~4% when comparing against stock toyota ECU and OBD-I reading.

    But... lets do some calculations for the DENSO MAP sensor

    PIM = 6585V - 3200
    PIM = 6585*1.98 - 3200
    PIM = 9838.30 kg/m^2

    Now... 0.37kg/cm^2 is 3700 kgf/m^2... and:
    PIM = 5346V - 3785
    PIM = 5346*1.98 - 3785
    PIM = 6800.08 kg/m^2

    delta of: 10253 - 6800.08 + 354 = 3806.92

    To me it looks like the PowerFC is still using NORMAL MAP sensor calculation, but using the input of the denso MAP sensor.

    Do I have to rewrite the PIM scale/offset in order for it to take effect?

    I'm lost as to what is the problem.

    Found the problem/solution.

    You have to ENABLE boost control kit to _properly_ utilise the additional MAP sensor.

    if you do NOT enable boost control kit, it will use the new sensor as MAP sensor input (as evident by the 0.37kg/cm^2 reading), however it will use the default/NORMAL PIM scale/offset settings, not the MAP sensor type that has been selected (eg: APEXI).

    seems like a stupid firmware bug to me.
